In 1996,
Buc Webb collapsed while playing a game of tennis with her husband.
She effectively died as she lay in his arms; her eyes shuttering
closed, her voice fading forever, succumbing to one of the worst brain
aneurysms the UCLA surgeons had ever seen. But thanks to a team of
Santa Monica paramedics she survived, only to be cast into a system which
seemed unprepared to help or see her through. That was twelve years
ago. Today she is cared for by her 71 year old husband, the government
(now Hawaii) providing little assistance or financial support.
