A mere three weeks into Buc's stay at UCLA, their Outpatient Specialist, Kelly White, informed me that her HMO refused to pay for further treatment, and wanted their physicians to declare Buc stable for transit, so that they could immediately move her to another facility.
Assuming Buc's physicians new what was best for her, I located Kelly White, to discuss the measures to be taken. Eventually, I found her at the ECU7 West nursing station outside Buc's old room. But Buc was gone, and Kelly White did not know where she was! Not only this, she seemed disinterested in the matter, and angry with me.
For the
next two days, neither UCLA nor Freeman Hospital, knew Buc's location.
When my son and I found eventually found her at the new facility, the continuity
of her medical care had been disastrously interrupted, she lay in a cold
room with only a thin blanket, seemingly unattended, her medical charts
and her inter facility transfer summary missing.
