Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center

To Whom It May Concern:

As you may already know, my wife is recovering from a very severe brain aneurysm leaving her paralyzed and unable to speak.  In the past, you assisted financially in helping to pay for her nursing.  This was done in order to relieve me.  I also know that the financial assistance you gave us was only temporary.  When we were receiving this assistance, I was able to have three nurses nearly around the clock, which probably saved my health.
Several months ago, I was sequestered by one of your staff who grilled me about the phone calls I had not made to the phone numbers she referred.  Though I had called some numbers, but not all, she ridiculed me, leaving me with the salutation that "maybe I should find more time". After that phone call, there has been no more support nor communication with your organization, leaving me somewhat confused as to the "real" purpose of your organization.
Another odd thing, which happened much earlier, you had referred me to an attorney to enlist his aid.  Though we never had a meeting, he was able to consume your five hundred dollars on the phone as well as pitch me the value of a "living trust" which he could put together for another five hundred dollars, yet he was never able to advise me on the real points concerning social services, HMO lawsuits and a lot of other stuff I needed to know at the time.  In my view, you wasted five hundred dollars and he was selling me!  Though I had mentioned this before to you, you seemed not at all concerned.  I'm curious if this attorney is one of you trustees, and uses LACRC as a vehicle to bring in clients?
This is not exceptional nor unlikely, as I am finding those involved with medicine and care giving to be disingenuous and consumed with money making.
Now that I am back down to one nurse and totally stressed out as how to meet her payroll and pay our home mortgage, I would like to point out that out of the four phone numbers given to me to call, one I never called being that it seemed completely inappropriate to my needs, and the one I called for energy assistance cascaded through at least three or four other referral numbers which could not help at the time.  The last number for HICAP, seemed too little too late, since my wife was shortly to be enrolled by Medicare.
